A Girl's Gotta Eat
My new brunch obsession: the organic quinoa waffles at AKA Wine Bar on Edmonton Trail. Buttery-tasting, crispy-chewy without being cakey. They come smothered in berry butter with real maple syrup on the side and a couple strips of really nice smokey bacon. The coffee there is terrific as well. Yummy.

Hockey Girl Part I
I've always been a hockey fan but this year I'm particularly captivated by the Stanley Cup playoffs. It seems like every game is scrappy, gritty, balls to the wall exciting. The underdogs keep winning. Plus, there are an abundance of great playoff beards and I love me a good playoff beard.
The one thing that, while fascinating, has been a bit of an onion in the ointment this year is the post-game rioting that's been going down in Montreal. I have a theory about the whole thing and it involves that "Ole Ole Ole Ole" cheer that the Montreal faithful break into whenever things go their way. Now, this is a fine way to support the team, but it's a Euro soccer cheer. So my theory is that because Canadiens fans cheer like Euro soccer (sorry futbol) fans, they're more prone to soccer hooliganism.
Just saying.

The Slacker's Diet
It's good to develop a taste for black coffee because if you run out of milk you can still start your day off right.

New Whitsundays Album Out Today
Today marks the release of the second album my brother Paul Arnusch has put out with his psychedelic pop project The Whitsundays. The record is called "Saul" which, as those close to Paul know, is a reference to the alter ego that comes out when he sleepwalks. In any case, the album is more weird and wonderful brillance. Sometimes I'm so proud of the little fella it makes my toes curl up with joy.
"Saul" is available on iTunes and through Brooklyn-based record label Friendly Fire (friendlyfirerecordings.com).
